Google – “Not just a search engine”
Google is one of the world’s most used search engine. It proposes many options and functionalities. But what do you really know about it ?
This search engine proposes many tools to surf on the web :
- See how many of them are available on the website : http://www.google.com/
- If you generaly use Google as your search engine, for which purpose do you use it ? How many of its functionalities have you ever used ?

- Google proposes an online translator. Could you tell how many languages are available on it ? Give your own guess first and then see on this link for the answer : http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wT#
Now, give it a try. Choose English as language of origine and choose to translate your text in french. Write the following sentence and search for its translation «i love your roses but i prefer lily's flowers» . Now try the same sentence with capital letters in it « I love your roses but I prefer Lily's flowers ».

What is the first result you can find ? See how many blogs are covering this story.
Google images’ research :
- One of the most used tool in the Google search engine is the images research tool.
Try to find a picture on the image search page : http://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi
Search for the word « goggles ». In the options, choose the large sized pictures with the face type and the green color. Then, search for the man with a green painted face.

I usually use google search engines very rarely. But when I've heard about something that strikes me, if I can't wait to find a better source of information, I google it directly, to know a bit more about it. I have already used the image search tool, and the news search tool.
ReplyDeleteI think that google translate is totally useless engine. I would rather use a more trustworthy engine such as wordreference or pons.eu.
I have found a total of 5,484 results for "royally pointless" with the blog search tool. The first result is the website "kippreport.com". I don't mind if people see pictures of my face I have published on the internet, because I am well-aware that internet is not a private area at all.

This is certainly the first search engine I use when I need information on anything. I often enough use the image search engine and gmail every day. Moreover, I use the online translator but rarely.
ReplyDeleteI think that it proposes about twenty languages. This tool is not at all trustworthy, it exists better translator like WordReference.
There are 5,589 links that stand out and the first one is “www.kippreport.com”.
Unfortunately, some people use the images in order to make believe “it is me” or for other aim. I think that it should be banned to see all images about everything. You can write whatever and different images stand out without inevitably links with your search.

1) We guess there are over 30 languages on Google. But actually 57 languages are available on it.
2) We think this translate tool is quite unreliable. We've already used it once or twice and we've noticed there were many mistakes in the translation.

1) The first result we find is "www.kippreport.com". There are 5,511 blogs that covered this story.
- Google images’ research :
1) We would not like that strangers see our pictures online. Unless we can choose who can see them. But we know that there is no privacy on the Internet so if we want them to stay confidential, we better not publish them on the Internet.
