The virtual university.
Introduction.
The virtual university is a different university, with different ways and methods of work, but which provides as the classic university a higher education and a degree, with marks, duties, courses and so on.
The virtual and the classic university system have exactly the same aim, which is to provide a higher education, a diploma and to allow people to start the post-university life with a grade.
The virtual university works thanks to all the methods allowing us to communicate instead of our physical presence with mails and video meetings for example.  It works thanks to the Internet.
It allows us to attend to courses, write and send our duties, be marked and so graduated.
In fact, if you compare, virtual university is like homeschooling. Even if there are different reasons for you to be homeschooled or to attend to a virtual class, and even if it’s not the same level of education, age of people and other facts, it’s the same principles, have the same advantages and disadvantages.

Questions:
  1. I want you to google “virtual university” and say us what’s the link allowing you to be better informed about it.

  1. Look at this website about the Canadian Virtual University. The CVU is not like one institution working alone and providing what we call an “e-ducation”.  The home page contains the information about the organization. Tell us how it really is.

  1. I’ve compared homeschooling and e-learning. I’ve found an article about advantages and disadvantages of home learning.

According to your own mind about the virtual education, did you find some common characteristics between the two?

  1. Let’s talk about the employers’ mind about online degrees. We were wondering if online graduated people had the same chances to be employed as those from traditional colleges. And I get an answer right here. How do you explain it?

Just a little conclusion:
In fact as you may have guessed we are currently attending to a virtual class.
We send our subjects by mail to Mrs. Baird and it allows her to see what we are doing and to mark us. We can see what others wrote, answer to their questions thanks to a blog created by the teacher. And as you all see, there’s no need to be physically present and to see each other.
Now we have to imagine how it is to study that way during the whole year, and for all your subjects.
Now answer this question:
Could you attend to a virtual class? Why?

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_university helped to understand better about what were virtual universities.
VCU is an association of several canadian universities, providing courses and degrees. It is very practical if you need to retake a year for some of your course but not all them or if you have any particular situation that makes it complicated for you to attend at a full-course at university.
I think there are several common points between homeschooling and virtual university. In my opinion the most serious issue concerning e-learning is whether or not your degree will be recognised when you'll apply for postgraduate studies or for a job.
Employer are very suspicious about e-degrees. One of the reason for this is that when you are doing an online degree, you are alone. Thus you don't learn how to work in team. You don't learn how to get understand by the others and don't improve at all your social skills. Thus, you are definitely not improving these skills that are definitely vital for your efficiency in a company.

Thoses links allowing us to be better informed about the virtual university. It is the class you can take at home just by being in front of your computer, it provides higher education and depending on wether the level they want to achieve. It is more flexible for those who can't move physically to the university.
CVU or Canadian Virtual University is a class the student follow on line and in distance everywhere in the world. They could provide all degree you want.
In my opinion, there many common points between homescholling and virtual university.Home learning and virtual university could be solutions for those who have disease or are incapable to move. They are also an higher education you can take with (virtual university) or without your computer (homeschooling) but you stay at home, you don't have to move to the university.
But there also common disadvantages for both of them. The students who learn at home (homeschooling or virtual university) couldn't develop their social skills and the education is sometimes insufficient. There are some skills that you can't obtain when you take an home learning or a virtual university as it is said in the website "they require additional tests for home educated children".
In general there are more employers who preferre those students graduated from traditionnal college. However we notice some organization or business who help thoses students for online-education by reimbursing their tuition.

A virtual university provides higher education programs through electronic media, typically the Internet. Some are bricks-and-mortar institutions that provide online learning as part of their extended university courses while others solely offer online courses.

  4. 1 – I find websites about studies on the net that we have to pay for 12dollars an hour and the UNESCO website and a Pakistan school.
2 – They propose, thanks to the union of several universities, a program that allows people to have a degree or to obtain courses they failed or wants to pass. They also propose programs for people wanting to go to Canada and for students wanting to go in these school after their scholarship.
3 - I found anything even remotely close to school.
4 – Currently they prefer to hire people with a traditional degree. I think it's because they don't exactly know what they studied so they doubt about these people's qualification.
Conclusion : I couldn't attend to a virtual class because I am easily distracted so I would not be serious about it.

2)Canadian Virtual University (CVU) is an association of Canada's leading universities specializing in online and distance education.

3)Home learning as well as virtual universities can be the solution for people who are disabled and for whom it's not easy to move but also for people who want to manage their time as they please, working whenever they want to.

4)Employers don't really like e-degree, this always happen with new things, there is always a feeling of distrust.

  6. The link which is allowing me to be better informed about “virtual university” is http://vu.ksurf.net/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_university.
The CVU is an association of Canada's leading universities specializing in online and distance education. It helps students everywhere to find a quality-assured online education. It opens to everyone if you are 16 years old aged or more.
Virtual education is a very useful way for the people who can’t move, physically incapable… but a lot of problems appear like about the social skills…
Employers largely prefer people who have a traditional degree than the e-degrees. At home, you can be helped… Maybe, you haven’t got the same capacities in the reality; it is too easy to cheat. You couldn’t be on trust. Moreover, you couldn’t develop or improve your social skills…
Conclusion : I need my friends, see people and be in calm to work so I think I couldn’t attend to a virtual class.

1- The better link to be better informed about Virtual universities is "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_university".

2- Non virtual universities work with Canadian Virtual University to help students who have not the course they want in their university to do it online with CVU and then transfer their credits to their own university.

3- The same characteristics between home schooling and e-learning is that it's an advantage if you have a physical incapacity to go to school, it's also cheaper because you don't pay for extra fees. And the disadvantage similar to both is that children may lack of social experience and skills.

4- People trust more traditionnal universities, Virtual university is still a new thing. But people begin to change their mind about it because thanks to virtual universities students can choose each course they wanted, so choose their skill. And they could form themselves to a very specific major.

  8. 1)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_university helped us to better understand what the virtual universities are.

2)Canadian Virtual University (CVU) is an association of public Canadian universities specializing in online and distance education.

    3) There are some similar characteristics between home-schooling and e-learning. An advantage for the both is that it's a good solution for people who can't go to school, because they are disabled, or have difficulties to move...Moreover it's cheaper and there are no fees.
But there are also disadvantages with these two systems of education like the lack of social experiences and skills and the fact that universities or/and employers don't always recognize these degrees.

4)Generally employers preferred to hire people graduated from traditionnal college. They are wary of online degree, mainly because it is still something new, it doesn't prove itself yet. Moreover with online degrees people didn't ever have the opportuny of developping their social skills.

    Conclusion :
We think it is better to attend traditional school because there are teachers to help us if needed, we can see our friends and meet people every day.
